Matadors Community Credit Union is committed to providing you with financial products and services to meet your needs and to help you reach your financial goals. Protecting the privacy of your personal information and using it in a manner consistent with your expectations is a priority to us. This notice outlines our policies to protect your privacy in a manner consistent with providing you with the financial products and services that you need. Throughout this notice, the word "information" refers to personal information about you that may not be publicly available. We may also disclose information for certain other specific purposes and this is not described in this notice. These disclosures are permitted under the law and generally include information to process transactions on your behalf, such as check printing, information that is disclosed with your consent, or disclosures necessary to protect the security of our financial records.

 

 

Information That We Collect About You

We collect information about you from the following sources:

  • Membership application form(s) and other form(s) we use to open your membership account.

  • Application forms used to open other types of accounts at our credit union, such as checking and IRA accounts.

  • Application forms used to obtain loans, credit cards, debit cards, or other loans that you have with us.

  • Credit reporting agencies.

  • Personal information contained in e-mail.

  • Information on your domain site used to access our website.

  • Other sources to verify the information that you provide on an application form. This may be obtained from your current or past employers, or from other institutions where you conduct financial transactions.

 

Information About You That We Disclose to Others

In order to provide you with financial products and services in a cost-efficient manner, we may disclose all information that we collect about you as described above. For example, we may share information with our data processor or check printer. The Credit Union does not and will not sell or provide information to third parties for independent use.

As described below under "How We Protect Your Information" we have policies in place to protect the confidentiality of the information that is disclosed.

 

Parties To Whom We Disclose the Information

We may disclose information about you to various outside parties. The following are the types of businesses these parties are engaged in, along with some examples of the businesses.

  • Other providers of financial products and services, such as those that provide mortgage and credit card.

  • Service providers such as our mailing house.

  • Parties that collect information on loans, such as credit bureaus.

 

Disclosure of Information to Parties That Provide Services to Us

We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf. We may also disclose information for certain other specific purposes that are not described in this notice. These disclosures are permitted under the law and generally include information to process transactions on your behalf, such as check printing, information that is disclosed with your consent, or disclosures necessary to protect the security of our financial records.

 

Accuracy of Personal Information

The Credit Union exercises reasonable procedures in order to assure the accuracy of our records and your information. Inaccurate information, when brought to our attention, will be corrected as promptly as possible. If you have any questions regarding the accuracy of your information, please contact us immediately. We request you keep your personal information with the Credit Union as current as possible so you receive the maximum benefit from us.

 

How We Protect Your Information

Only our employees or other authorized individuals will have access to information about you and only to the extent that they have a need for the information. We prohibit our employees or other individuals from giving this information to anyone in a manner that would violate the law or our privacy policy. We do not provide information about you to anyone unless we first verify their identity and legal right to obtain this information. We regularly train our employees to ensure that your information is protected. We also have safeguards in place to protect your information against natural disaster, hazards, or other threats. With regard to transactions that take place on the Internet, we have additional industry standard Secure Socket Layer encrypted browsers in place to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of the information.

If you choose to terminate your membership we will continue to adhere to the policies and practices as described in this notice. We reserve the right to revise this policy as our business needs change or the law requires. If we revise our policies we will provide our active members with copies of our new policies as required.

 

How You Can Protect Your Personal Information

1. Do not give out personal information such as your account or credit card numbers unless you have initiated the contact.

2. Report lost or stolen checks immediately and examine new checks to assure none were stolen during shipment.

3. Store your checks in a safe location.

4. Destroy unused financial solicitations before discarding them.

5. Guard your ATM/Check Card number and treat your receipts with care. Do not leave them behind and throw them in a trash where they become accessible to thieves.

6. Make sure your mailbox is secure and promptly remove mail when delivered.

7. Contact the major credit reporting companies at least annually to review your file.

Online Privacy Policy

This Online Privacy Policy statement describes our privacy practices with respect to our website found on the world wide web at www.matadors.org and our Internet Banking Service, e-branch.

 

Surfing our Website and Using Internet Banking (e-branch)

We use cookies to track usage of our website and to compile general statistics.

 

Our Internet Banking service (e-branch) requires the use of cookies to keep track of your identity and other information pertinent to your internet banking session. Cookies are small pieces of information that a Web server can store on your browser so the system recognizes your actions during a session. When you end your session with e-branch (exit browser), all e-branch cookies are automatically removed. This means that a third party attempting to access these cookies directly from your computer hard drive would not be able to find them.

 

The account number and password you enter to access e-branch is used to verify your identify before online access is granted.

 

Information we collect from you when you request information about the Credit Union’s products and services

We ask for your first and last name, address, e-mail address, home phone number and your work phone number when you request membership information from us. We ask this information for two reasons: 1) to deliver the information to you, 2) to follow up with you to make sure that you have received the information you previously requested and to help you with any questions you may have about the information we have sent to you.

 

Use of your E-mail address

When you sign up for Internet Banking (e-branch), Bill Payer, and for membership, we ask for your e-mail address in order to periodically send you information about our products and services. We may also use your e-mail address to communicate important information about your account and the services associated with it.

 

E-mail addresses and other information for the “MCCU News” electronic newsletter function

For each visitor that signs up for MCCU e-news, we collect only the information that is requested on the list signup form. Required fields are denoted with an asterisk (*). Our web servers may collect the domain name or IP address of visitors to our web page(s). Unless otherwise stated on our web site, we collect the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail and information volunteered by you such as but not limited to list signup information and the signature card for your account(s). In our e-mail messages to you which are distributed through this list, we may have information from third party providers for products and services which may be advertised or promoted within messages we send to you from this e-mail list--the privacy policies of those third-party provider sites govern the method by which they collect and use such information.

 

Use of Web Site Information Collected

The information we collect may be used to create an aggregate demographic profile of our user base so that we can improve content, customize the content and/or layout of our e-mail messages or pages for each individual visitor, to notify you about updates to our web site and services, to provide you with the products and/or services for which you signed-up or registered, which may include sending service disruption notices or other service- or product-related information via e-mail, and is not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes. Upon request, we will provide you with the information (e.g., e-mail address, name, etc.) that we maintain about you.

 

E-Mail and Direct Response Contact

If you subscribed to e-news but do not want to receive it in the future, please follow the "unsubscribe" instructions contained in the e-mail messages you receive.

 

Postal Address Collection and Use

If you supply us with your postal address on-line you will only receive the information for which you provided us your address. If you supply us with your telephone number, you will only receive telephone contact from us with information regarding your inquiry.

 

Cookies

We may use cookies to record session information, such as record user-specific information on what pages users access or visit, record past activity at a site in order to provide better service when you return to our site, and customize web page or e-mail message content based on your browser type or other information.

 

Security

We and our provider of the e-mail list management service used for this list, strive to maintain appropriate security measures in our respective physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you for being part of our e-mail list. Although we and Emma take reasonable measures to secure our data, we cannot guarantee that the measures taken are or will remain adequate. Since we may include links from messages sent to the e-mail list to other companies' web sites, please refer to the privacy policies of those sites for information on how they handle security for information they collect.

 

Changes to E-Mail List Privacy Policy

If our information practices change at some time in the future, we will post the policy changes to this E-Mail List Privacy Policy page to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of our list. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at this E-Mail List Privacy Policy page periodically.

 

Third-Party Links and partnered service providers

Matadors Community Credit Union does not control and cannot guarantee the relevance, timeliness and accuracy of the materials provided by the other websites, nor does Matadors Community Credit Union endorse their views, products or services. Each of these third party websites has a different privacy policy. For your own protection, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with each one.

 

Matadors Community Credit Union also partners with different service providers for services such as mortgage lending and student loans to provide you with services we would not otherwise be able to provide to you. These third party companies may collect information directly from you in order to provide you with the service you have requested. Please be advised that we hold our partners to strict confidentiality standards and prohibit them from sharing your information with any party other than Matadors Community Credit Union.
