BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at MCCU! Please read the volunteer requirements below, and complete and submit your application no later than 5:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2026.

Please note that all questions require a response, and all requested documentation must be included for your application to be considered.

MCCU volunteers represent the best interests of our members and ensure financial soundness for the credit union. The Board of Directors guide strategic and policy decisions for the credit union, while the Supervisory Committee safeguards the assets off the credit union and is the "watchdog" for the membership. All positions are volunteer, without compensation.

There are currently three (3) open positions on the MCCU Board of Directors and two (2) open positions on the Supervisory Committee. All positions are three-year terms. Completed applications are due no later than Tuesday, November 24, 2026.

Considerations for a volunteer position:

Must be a MCCU member, who is in good standing, meaning that all required minimum deposits and loans are current and have caused no losses to the credit union.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
As a Board Member and Supervisory Committee Member, all loan requests must be approved by the VP Lending or CEO and the Board of Directors.
Cannot be employed by or hold a volunteer position with another financial institution, credit card company or lender.
Have never been terminated from or asked to leave a financial institution, in any capacity.
Must be able to commit 10-15 hours per month to attend meetings, both in-person and remotely, plus additional time for mandatory training which may include travel, and one 3-day weekend per year to participate in the strategic planning retreat.
Must be able to communicate via email and receive and respond to emails in a timely manner. Must be able to complete mandatory annual online training. Must have the ability to access our secure online portal from a private personal computer or laptop.
Must be able to attend mandatory monthly meetings in-person and remotely, as well as special/committee meetings in person.
Will be subject to a reference, credit, and criminal background check and insurance bondability.
Must be willing to disclose any financial or personal affiliation with a company or organization that may conflict with the interests of the credit union and compromise your judgement in the exercise of your duties as a volunteer.
Must be willing to sign annual Non-Disclosure Agreement, Confidentiality Agreement and a Conflict of Interest Disclosure.

Duties and Responsibilities of Board of Directors (3 positions available):

A Director of the Credit Union will be a prudent and diligent individual who maintains the general direction and control of the Credit Union. This includes, but is not limited to, guiding the organization to fulfill its vision/purpose/mission; setting policies which guide the affairs of the Credit Union; and ensuring that those policies are properly implemented in accordance with the Credit Union charter, bylaws, all applicable federal and state laws, sound business practices, and the needs of the membership. Some of the duties as a Director include:

Prepare for and attend monthly Board Meetings (remote)
Attend Annual Strategic Planning Retreat (travel required)
Mandatory Training (online, but travel may also be required)
Committee Involvement

Duties and Responsibilities of Supervisory Committee Members (NO OPEN POSITIONS):

The Supervisory Committee is responsible for ensuring that members' funds and interests are protected and that financial reporting objectives have been met. Supervisory Committee members are invited to Board Meetings but are not required to attend. Some of the duties as a Supervisory Committee member include:

Oversee the credit union’s annual Accounting (CPA) Audit and evaluate the corresponding reports and findings
Prepare for and attend mandatory quarterly Supervisory Committee meetings (remote)
Attend Annual Strategic Planning Retreat (travel required)
Mandatory Training (travel may be required)

As a potential volunteer with MCCU, you are required to disclose any and all actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may compromise your ability to serve. If you are nominated for a volunteer position with the credit union, you will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and a Confidentiality Agreement.
